Ep. 2: Hiyori searches for a phantom to become Yato's new Regalia while he recovers from battle injuries.

Hiyori frequently drifts from her body and seeks a phantom to serve as Yato’s new Regalia, as he refuses to work without one. She encounters a hostile spirit and attempts to fight it alone, but Yato intervenes and sustains a dangerous blight wound. After retreating to treat the injury, Yato explains that Hiyori’s tail connects her to her physical form and its severance would be fatal. When the phantom returns, Yato captures an uncorrupted spirit that manifests as a white katana, enabling him to defeat the enemy. He subsequently names this new Regalia Yukine, who transforms into the appearance of a teenage human boy.
