Junpei begins transforming into a cat and enlists Kotone and Akari to help him leave the post office without detection. Believing Kaede suspects his secret, he devises a plan to fake a curse from a maneki-neko figurine, which his friends purify afterward. However, Nagi accidentally removes Junpei’s hat, exposing his cat ears and forcing him to flee to the park. There, he fully transforms, and Kaede discovers the cat without recognizing him. As local cats gather around her, Kaede recalls Junpei’s kindness toward them, leading her to believe he was never cursed. This realization seemingly reverses the curse, returning Junpei to human form, though he soon learns the effect was only temporary. With the new year starting, Junpei must continue performing good deeds for cats to manage his condition.
