President Ohara seeks to reconcile Yamaoka and his father to secure Kaibara’s contribution to the Ultimate Menu, but Kaibara refuses. Ohara invites the Touzai Culture Department staff and Kaibara to dine at the renowned Hanayama restaurant. Kaibara criticizes the fish soup and demands it be remade. Learning a temporary chef is working, Yamaoka offers assistance and prepares a replacement stock and fish dish that impresses Kaibara. When Kaibara visits the kitchen to praise the chef, he discovers Yamaoka prepared the meal. He insults both Ohara and Yamaoka, then storms out, destroying Ohara’s hopes for reconciliation.
