Oooku

A mysterious illness known as the Redface Pox spreads in Japan during the Edo period, drastically reducing the male population over eighty years. By this time, women outnumber men four to one and assume roles previously held by men, including leadership positions such as the Shogunate. Men, now valued for their role in reproduction, are safeguarded and selected based on appearance. The most attractive are assigned to the Shogun's Inner Chambers.
