Ten students race to Mt. Nuegakubi, where the farthest person faces punishment every 8 hours. Natsuko leads, but Nobuaki assists struggling classmates Riona and Masatoshi, ignoring their protests. Exhausted and hallucinating, Nobuaki fails to save Masatoshi, who drowns after falling from a bridge. Riona revives Masatoshi, restoring Nobuaki’s resolve. As the 8-hour deadline approaches, Nobuaki intentionally stops to tie his shoelace, triggering a death punishment text.
