Following reports of Ho-Oh sightings in the Johto region, Ash and Goh journey there to witness the legendary Pokémon they observed in the past. Upon arriving at an ancient bell tower, they encounter a young boy who shares their desire to see Ho-Oh. They also meet the boy's grandfather, who has lost his faith in the existence of the legendary creature. The group gathers with the hope of finally encountering the mythical bird, combining their efforts to locate the elusive Pokémon in the region.
