Ash returns to Pallet Town to celebrate reaching the Kanto League, but Team Rocket steals Pikachu using spicy food. Charizard defeats them after Ash's Pidgeotto is poisoned. Professor Oak sends Ash to Valencia Island for the GS Ball from Professor Ivy. On the way, Ash is attacked by Spearow and an evolved Fearow, the latter having evolved from a bird Ash previously angered. Fearow carries Ash and Pikachu to a flock of threatened Pidgey and Pidgeotto. Ash's Pidgeotto evolves into Pidgeot to guide the wild birds to safety and defeat Fearow. Ash then releases Pidgeot to protect the flock while he continues his journey.
