After learning their father Mohn is alive from their time on Poni Island, Lillie and Gladion return to Aether Paradise to search his documents. Lusamine reveals Mohn’s former office, where Lillie finds his old Z-Ring and the inactive Mythical Pokémon Magearna. Seeking to use the Z-Ring, Lillie visits Kahuna Hala to request permission. She then engages in a battle with Hala to demonstrate her ability to master Z-Moves, testing her skills with the artifact she recovered from her father's belongings.
