Sara reveals a desk to Ermengarde where she stored a letter, unaware that Ram Dass visited her late at night. Thomas receives the letter but questions how Sara has changed since her father died. Donald recounts buying matches from her but fails to identify or find her. Meanwhile, Surya climbs onto the Seminary roof, and Sara shelters him by a warm fire before hiding the monkey from the Headmistress. She smuggles him out with Ermengarde acting as a lookout, but Lavinia spots the act. Finally, Ralph's little missus returns Surya to his home, concluding the sequence of events involving the hidden monkey and the intercepted letter.
