After reprimanding Lavinia for troubling Lottie, Sara organizes a tea party at the Seminary to foster friendships. She invites Becky along with Ermengarde to purchase supplies, ensuring everyone is included. Jessie and Gertrude express their true feelings about Lavinia, relieved that Sara is no longer ignoring them. During the gathering, Lavinia’s complaints about the Headmistress’s greed create an uncomfortable atmosphere. However, the Headmistress becomes pleased upon discovering that Sara’s father has invested in potentially profitable diamond mines, which should secure Sara’s financial future well into adulthood. Despite this news, Sara views these mines as little more than a casino gamble, lacking genuine value in her eyes.
