On a Sunday morning, Peter discovers Becky cleaning the steps before the Headmistress directs Sara to lead the girls to the cathedral. Their procession inadvertently crushes Becky as they pass the mayor and VIPs. To provoke jealousy in Lavinia, the Headmistress appoints Sara as class representative, a move Sara accepts with the mayor's approval. Lavinia immediately begins plotting revenge. After the Headmistress grants everyone the day off, Sara introduces a pony for the group's enjoyment. However, the animal panics and gallops away, allowing Lavinia to execute her revenge plan successfully.
