Myuuto, motivated by a conversation between Duck and her friends, seeks to express his feelings for Princess Tutu. He visits Edel with Rue, who sells a gem named Love. Edel warns that the stone is delicate. Jealous of the intended recipient, Rue scuffs the gem and secretly curses it with hatred, embedding a raven's feather. Myuuto presents the item to Princess Tutu, who discovers the heart shard of love inside. As she attempts to return it, Kraehe's hatred manifests and binds her. Kraehe then appears and violently rips the half-returned heart shard from Myuuto's chest, completing the curse's effect on the characters involved.
