Ayato’s life support systems fail during a battle with a new Dolem, trapping him within the RahXephon. He experiences a hallucination where he briefly meets Hiroko and Mamoru in an arcade, but flees after Hiroko makes a move. He then encounters Haruka, who urges him to embrace his desires. Returning home for dinner, he receives a subliminal message from a newscaster to contact the TERRA Organization. Maya informs him that he is destined to be the RahXephon’s instrumentalist, but Ayato rejects this fate and escapes into the forest. There, he meets Reika again, who helps him return to reality despite his own desires, prompting him to destroy the Dolem.
