Jin Kunugi and Shirou Watari attend a press conference, leaving Souichi in charge of operations. Kim Hotal insults Ayato for being useless, prompting Megumi to explain that Kim's parents were killed by a Dolem in Australia. Itsuki and Sayoko ask Ayato to run tests with the RahXephon. Kim discovers the Dolem's location with a clue from Quon. Although Ayato initially refuses to grant her revenge, he decides to fight due to sympathy for Kim. During the nighttime battle, Ayato is sunk underground. He calls out for Reika and emerges to defeat the Dolem.
