Following morning shooting practice with Sakurai, the Defense Four unit, comprising Takayama, Sakurai, Iwaizumi, and Haruka, is assigned to locate an accomplice of the Tokyo station bomber. Takayama and Sakurai identify and chase the suspect, awaiting backup from the public safety force. The target escapes into a forest after exiting a train, forcing the pair to spend the night at a station, which causes Takayama to miss a scheduled trip. The next morning, they spot the suspect attempting to board a train. He leaves a bomb on the tracks and flees again. Takayama orders Sakurai to shoot rock fall sensors to signal an approaching train. The criminal is subsequently apprehended by the public safety force, allowing the duo to return safely. Sakurai then demands additional training for Takayama, which irritates Haruka.
