At Furinkan High, Ranma is attacked by Ryoga Hibiki, a martial artist seeking vengeance. Ryoga reveals they attended the same all-boys middle school, where he challenged Ranma to a fight. Ranma had waited three days for the duel, but Ryoga’s poor sense of direction caused him to arrive on the fourth day, leading to his resentment. Ten days later, Ryoga challenges Ranma again to settle the score. During their battle, Ryoga discovers Ranma’s curse, which enrages him further. The conflict intensifies when Ranma and Akane argue amidst the fighting. This distraction causes Ryoga to miss his intended strike, resulting in him accidentally chopping off Akane’s long hair.
