The Jinpuu squad conducts vigilante assassinations and attempts to coerce local schoolteacher Sasaki into resuming his role as a swordsman. Sano and Kenshin intervene to repel the attackers. Following this confrontation, Toma, the leader of the Jinpuu, declares his intention to kill Kenshin.
