While wandering through a forest, Sanosuke encounters a monk named Anji Yuukyuuzan who offers him food. Impressed by the monk, Sanosuke persuades Anji to instruct him in the Futae no Kiwami, a destructive punching technique capable of pulverizing large boulders into dust. Anji sets a strict deadline, granting Sanosuke exactly one week to master the skill under the threat of death if he fails. Upon successfully learning the technique within the allotted time, Sanosuke departs from the forest and heads toward Kyoto to continue his journey.
