On June 27, Sakuta eats lunch with Mai, who accepts his feelings, and sees Tomoe asked out by Maezawa. The day repeats due to a time loop, which Rio links to Laplace's demon. To escape, Sakuta searches for anomalies and finds Tomoe hiding in a desk. She explains her hesitation stems from her best friend's crush on Maezawa. Sakuta and Tomoe fall together, angering Maezawa and Mai. The loop ends, but Mai misses school the next day. Tomoe proposes a fake relationship until summer break. Sakuta agrees after seeing her distress, recalling his sister Kaede's similar past experience. That night, while Sakuta plans to explain things to Mai, she arrives at his apartment, asking why he has not yet addressed the situation regarding Tomoe.
