Captain Varrot orders squad leaders to rest after the Fouzen operation. Squad 7 asks Rosie to perform in a talent contest, but she refuses and leaves angrily. She confides in Isara about her childhood during the First Europan War, when Darcsen guerrillas hid at her home. Her parents died in crossfire after being falsely accused of betraying the guerrillas. Rosie remains traumatized and unwilling to sing. Welkin attempts to persuade her after learning Isara planned to skip the show to encourage Rosie. Faldio returns with Isara, who had performed anyway due to Faldio's order. Her performance boosts morale among the militia. Afterward, Faldio confesses his love to Alicia.
