Ryo wakes from a dream and is tasked by Fangmei to move books to dry, a chore he resents but accepts as rent. After injuring himself and encountering an old lady who makes him deliver a tea set, he seeks martial artists with Joy and Wong. Meanwhile, Lishao intimidates attackers threatening two children, reflecting on her past, while Fangmei denies knowing Yuanda Zhu. Ryo returns late and is scolded, but Lishao apologizes for Fangmei's behavior. Joy and Wong learn from a waiter that Guixiang controls the Yan Tin apartments. Ryo goes there, defeats assailants protecting the old lady, and meets Guixiang, who identifies his actions as the Wude principle of Yi. Lishao admits she withheld help due to Ryo's vengeful desire. Fangmei apologizes and directs Ryo to a book by Yuanda Zhu in the library, which he finds.
