The Seven Stars inform traitor monk Akasha Shishido of their plan to capture Makina Hoshimura, blaming him for her power. Rika Aragami discovers Makina has been imprisoned for six months in a purification chamber near the head temple, where spirits consume her rune of regrets. Meanwhile, Ouri trains with Contracted Monks Kanechika Umehara and Takamasa Sogi but fails to bond with a rabbit. His training ends abruptly when an incident occurs at the chamber. Akasha has transformed a monk into a Shikabane to seize Makina. Ouri arrives just in time to embrace her, which diminishes her rune and enables her to kill the monk.
