Jan 1, 2009The Seven Stars inform traitor monk Akasha Shishido of their plan to capture Makina Hoshimura, blaming him for her power. Rika Aragami discovers Makina has been imprisoned for six months in a purification chamber near the head temple, where spirits consume her rune of regrets. Meanwhile, Ouri trains with Contracted Monks Kanechika Umehara and Takamasa Sogi but fails to bond with a rabbit. His training ends abruptly when an incident occurs at the chamber. Akasha has transformed a monk into a Shikabane to seize Makina. Ouri arrives just in time to embrace her, which diminishes her rune and enables her to kill the monk.
2EP 2Takamasa and Itsuki face the Seven Stars while Makina battles Hazama in a trench trap.
Jan 8, 2009Takamasa and Shikabane Hime Itsuki Yamagami attempt to rescue Ouri and Makina from a group of monks. Akasha and the Seven Stars trap everyone except the two rescuers in an invisible trench. Inside, Makina suffers at the hands of Hazara while Ouri remains helpless. The Seven Stars state they have released their true nature to live without regrets. Makina recalls her past as a Shikabane Hime with former Contracted Monk Keisei Tagami, which motivates her to attack Hazama. Hokuto, the leader of the Seven Stars, easily repels her assault. Contracted Monks and Shikabane Hime outside the trench manage to break in. Akasha and the Seven Stars retreat, viewing Makina as their enemy.
3EP 3Makina escapes cave imprisonment after confronting Ouri about his weakness.
Jan 15, 2009Ouri continues priest training under Takamasa while Rika guides Makina to remove a rotten rune via an enkiri in a cave. Concurrently, the Seven Stars plot Makina’s defeat, with Ena tasked to hunt her first. Succumbing to her bond with Keisei, Makina breaks out of the cave, evading Rika. She later confronts Ouri at a hot spring, demanding contract termination due to his perceived lack of strength. Rika and Shikabane Hime Saki Amase quickly restrain and imprison Makina. Subsequently, Takamasa takes Ouri to witness a mission to kill a Shikabane, highlighting the ongoing threats and internal conflicts surrounding the characters.
4EP 4Flashback reveals Takamasa and Itsuki's past as a team and Tomoharu's transformation into a Shikabane.
Jan 22, 2009A flashback details how Takamasa and Itsuki formed their team approximately four years ago following a bus accident that turned Itsuki into a Shikabane Hime. The pair initially struggled against a werewolf-like Shikabane but eventually defeated it. Although they grew closer, Takamasa remembered he must not treat Itsuki as a normal human. Itsuki transferred to school with Takamasa and befriended classmate Tomoharu Kishibe, who knew of Takamasa's feelings. When Tomoharu’s family was killed by a reckless driver, it was revealed he had become a Shikabane four years ago to cause such accidents. Unable to let Itsuki kill Tomoharu, she transformed into a Shikabane and accidentally wounded Takamasa before reverting. Having learned from this past trauma, Takamasa now allows Itsuki to shoot Tomoharu without hesitation.

Jan 29, 2009Takamasa aids Itsuki in defeating Tomoharu within a parking garage. Meanwhile, Rika and Saki alert Ouri to a revived Keisei sighting in the mountains. Makina locates him but senses a change and falls into a ditch. Ouri arrives at the forest, where he meets Sadahiro Mibu. While Rika stops Sadahiro from interfering, Ouri rushes to find Makina. As the disguised Keisei approaches Makina, Ouri impales him with a spear, forcing him to retreat. Ouri then comforts Makina, and Sadahiro recognizes her effort to sever ties with her former Contracted Monk. It is revealed that Ena was the one disguised as Keisei, reappearing alongside duplicates of him.
6EP 6Makina defeats Ena while Nozomi is manipulated by Toya and demands death from Ouri
Feb 5, 2009Ouri defeats Ena, who transfers his soul into Keisei duplicates before returning to his original body. Ena attacks Makina with a spinning metal ball, grinding her hand, but she stops and shatters it despite the toll on Ouri. Makina shoots Ena, who is obsessed with beauty. Meanwhile, Nozomi Kasuga is approached by Toya, who manipulates her using a balloon tied around her neck. Later, Ouri attends an imperial ordinance of the Kōgon Sect regarding precautions against the remaining Seven Stars. Rika gives Ouri a robe left behind by Keisei. Makina invites Ouri to her apartment, confirming their intimate contract. When Ouri returns to his apartment, Nozomi barges in, pushes him onto the floor, and asks him to kill her.
7EP 7Nozomi's balloon control and Makina's illusionary amusement park encounter
Feb 12, 2009Nozomi tries to seduce Ouri while controlled by a growing balloon. Mizuki Inuhiko intervenes, claiming Nozomi loves him, before she escapes and binds Makina to a balloon. Makina enters an illusionary amusement park where she meets Toya, who equates death with happiness. After Makina defeats Toya, the truth emerges: Toya was a girl poisoned by her poor family during a park visit, leading to her distorted beliefs. Hizuchi reveals this backstory and knocks Makina unconscious. Ouri attempts to destroy the Shikabane but fails. Hizuchi then appears, destroying the Shikabane and killing Nozomi in the process.
8EP 8Makina Fights Hokuto While Ouri Faces His Past at the Orphanage
Feb 26, 2009Makina battles Hokuto at the Seven Stars headquarters while Hazama observes. Meanwhile, Ouri is taken to the Kōgon Sect, where he discovers his Shikabane heritage. Overwhelmed by childhood memories, he loses control and is expelled from his role as a Contracted Monk, causing him significant distress. A brief conflict involving Saki and Itsuki enables Ouri to flee back to the orphanage. Hazama and Isaka strategize against the sect’s upcoming plans. Riko informs Ouri that missing children cases occurred in the area when he arrived as a child. When another child vanishes, Ouri rushes to the riverbank. There, he encounters children near Hizuchi, who reveals he was killed by Ouri's "mother" in the past and holds a grudge against Ouri for being the sole survivor.

Mar 5, 2009Ouri was the only survivor when his mother, now a Shikabane, killed many children. Hizuchi, one of the victims, regretted eating anything to survive before dying. Keisei adopted Ouri then and wanted to hide this truth. Suddenly, a black cat engulfs Ouri, turning him into a Shikabane. Akasha tells Makina that Hokuto was raised as a human sacrifice but became a Shikabane without regrets, embodying death. Makina cannot match Hokuto’s power and is thrown into a lake. Sensing Ouri is in danger, Makina rises again with a reason to fight. As Ouri attempts suicide by fire, the black cat takes over, revealing itself to be the kidnapped children from the past. Hizuchi prepares to kill Ouri, but Makina arrives just in time to help, allowing them to defeat Hizuchi together.
10EP 10Seven Stars Execute Final Plan as City Plunges into Chaos and Shikabane Hordes Rise
Mar 12, 2009The Seven Stars initiate their final plan, causing planes to crash into buildings and generate countless Shikabane. Contracted Monks and Shikabane Hime face their greatest mission to repel the hordes. Akasha, Hokuto, and Hazama head to the purification chamber, where Sadahiro and Akira attack but fail to stop them. Ouri and Makina arrive next; while Sadahiro and Akira block entry, Makina enters with Ouri's assistance. Inside, Hokuto breaks through Bishop Tokihana Shiou's barrier and strikes his body. Akasha orders Hokuto to destroy a mysterious casket, severing the bond of all Contracted Monks and causing every Shikabane Hime to collapse.

Mar 19, 2009The casket holds the daughter of the Kōgon Sect founder, preserved as a Shikabane Hime. Akasha transforms Hokuto into his Shikabane Hime and kills Hazama. Ouri and Makina confront them in the purification chamber. Akasha reveals his past: he was childhood friends and lovers with Hibiki Shijo. Her illness led to her death, prompting Akasha to resurrect her as a Shikabane Hime. Hazama orchestrated the Shikabane attack five years ago, during which Hibiki destroyed 108 Shikabane before turning into one herself, forcing Akasha to kill her. Concluding that heaven is a lie, Akasha and Hokuto destroy the chamber. Ouri and Makina discover new strength through friendship to continue their battle.

Ouri invites Makina to live in the orphanage for a normal life. After classmates mention Nozomi, Ouri leaves with Makina, who reflects on being alive. Makina insists her purpose is fighting death, but Ouri disagrees. The two sense Hokuto and Hazama in an abandoned apartment. Hokuto attacks through the wall, forcing Makina to fight back with all her strength.
