Rit, Zoltan's top adventurer, shocks many by living with Red. She leaves to buy mead, prompting Albert to accuse Red of killing the Owl-Bear. Red denies the charge, causing Albert to attack, but Rit returns to stop him. She is surprised by Red's speed when he catches her dropped mead. Later, Red and Rit visit Zeff's sauna, which lacks customers due to a new noble-built bath-house. Zeff fears bankruptcy, but Nao scolds his pessimism. Red proposes using medicinal herbs to attract patrons. Rit reveals the mead reminds her of a Loggervia wedding tradition. Meanwhile, Theodora questions Tisse about joining the failing Hero's Party, noting the internal conflicts that were absent under Gideon.
