While exploring the planet Alabasta, Tails and Cosmo become separated from Sonic and the rest of the group. After falling into a cave, they stumble upon a hidden facility. Inside, they are shocked to discover that a group of Metarex aliens is actively copying the Chaos Emeralds. Realizing the danger, the two must act quickly to evade the pursuing extraterrestrials. They are forced to think fast and navigate the facility to escape the immediate threat posed by the Metarex and their replication operations.
