Sakura reveals she was assimilated by a Rare Type Festum during the recent alien invasion. After the pilots defeat three Festums, they react to seeing Sakura hospitalized. Fumihiko confronts Tsubaki regarding the series of alien invasions and changes in the island's weather and wildlife. The integration of the Siegfried System into the Fafner Mark Sein is discussed at the base. A new Festum appears and counters every pilot attack, leaving them unable to fight back. Mamoru desperately tries to immobilize the enemy while Kazuki successfully drives the lance sword through it. However, Mamoru is killed in the process.
