Soukyuu no Fafner

Tatsumiyajima is a small island located in a quiet part of Japan, where life is expected to be calm and uneventful. The local youth attend school with the assumption that their future will remain peaceful. However, the reality is more dire—humanity's survival is at stake, and the island serves as the final defense against an unknown and threatening force. A massive robot known as Fafner plays a central role in this struggle, acting as a guardian in the effort to protect the last hope for human existence. The final episode of the series was longer than usual, running approximately 48 minutes, and was later divided into two shorter episodes for home video releases.
