Frieren and her companions reach a settlement within the Laub Hills, discovering that the inhabitants have fallen into a deep slumber due to an unknown affliction. Frieren notes that local priests remain unaffected because a goddess provides them with protection against such magical interference. Sein, possessing specific knowledge and resistance to these phenomena, identifies the nature and origin of the affliction. Together, the group determines that a demon is responsible for the widespread sleep. They then depart to locate and eliminate the demon, aiming to lift the curse and restore the villagers to consciousness.
