Fern, Übel, and Land capture a Stille and rest to avoid mage threats. Frieren, Kanne, and Lawine devise a strategy to freeze the testing grounds' lake while infusing small pools with mana. Since Stille are sensitive to mana, leaving one pool clean attracts the thirsty bird. Denken's group witnesses Lawine's magic and resolves to steal the Stille. Fern's party is ambushed by Ehre, Wirbel, and Schraf while searching for water, leading to a battle. Frieren suppresses her mana near the clean pool to capture a Stille unnoticed. Denken's party detects her magic and ambushes Frieren's group to seize their prize.
