While Sein deliberates, a heavy snowstorm traps the group in a village for a month. Fern becomes upset after Stark accidentally grips her shoulder too tightly, prompting Sein to mediate their reconciliation. Once the weather clears, Sein departs to search for the Gorilla Warrior, while Frieren, Fern, and Stark proceed to Äußerst. En route, Fern falls ill, forcing a stop at a small settlement for treatment. During this time, Frieren explains her habit of holding Fern’s hand for comfort, recalling how Himmel supported her during their travels. After Fern recovers, the trio reaches Äußerst just in time for Frieren and Fern to begin the First-Class Mage Exam.
