On September 1st, Tamako travels to Kobe to live with her uncle and pursue medical studies. Meanwhile, Tamahiko and Yuzuki visit the village market, where they attract the attention of the playful pickpocket Ryo Atsumi. That evening, Yuzuki gives Tamahiko a pressed flower bookmark as a birthday present, marking the first gift he has ever received. A sudden crash interrupts them, leading Tamahiko to investigate the noise. He discovers Ryo Atsumi sitting inside his room, having entered unexpectedly. The events of the day conclude with this surprising encounter between the brothers and the local thief.
