Ep. 8: Naofumi confronts a zombie dragon after treating a village afflicted by a mysterious disease.
Naofumi and his party investigate a village suffering from a strange illness. They discover the sickness stems from Sword Hero Ren, who killed a dragon nearby and neglected to dispose of the carcass, allowing monsters to gather. The corpse has mutated into a zombie dragon. During the battle, the dragon swallows Filo, causing Naofumi to lose control and activate his cursed shield, which repels attacks with passive flames but burns Raphtalia while she tries to calm him. Filo survives by emerging from the dragon with a crystal that sustained it. Although she finds another crystal, Naofumi lacks the level to use the shield it unlocks. Back at the village, Naofumi regrets endangering his friends and resolves to grow stronger, as Raphtalia requires high grade Holy Water to heal her burns.
