The AGS Blademen Unit VIPER is dispatched to intercept a Megasoma Bugmech heading for Daiva City. The mechanical beast mounts a fierce defense against the AQS Maneuver-Blades, inflicting casualties that nearly compel the army to intervene. Operative Saiki Cryde opts to self-destruct his Maneuver-Blade to destroy the Megasoma, an action that also demolishes a section of a highway. Although the threat is neutralized, Saiki is compelled to forfeit the majority of his incentive pay to cover the costs of the highway repairs.
