Hospitalized patient Oota is ordered to rest but wanders the halls, discovering a door leading to a sky bridge connecting to another building. Upon opening it, he spills salt and feels ill as shadows appear in the distant windows. A nurse warns him to leave, and he passes out. Waking in his room with his wife Natsuki, he claims the other building exists, but the nurse denies it. That night, Oota finds salt plates blocking his path and collapses as grotesque monsters approach. Natsuki calls to him before he loses consciousness again. Insistent on the building's reality, he is made to promise to stay put. Later, he leaves bed despite salt barriers at the corners and collapses. Monsters invade his room as Natsuki pleads with him not to go. He ends up alone in a dark hallway as his heart monitor flatlines, leaving Natsuki to wonder if he has crossed over.
