After Takashi leaves for beer, his friend hears a female voice from a duffle bag begging him to convince Takashi to stay or face burning. The bag contains mannequin parts that refuse to let him leave until he agrees. Terrified, the friend threatens them with a lighter. When Takashi returns, he finds his apartment burned down. His boss provides new housing, creating an obligation to remain at work. Consequently, Takashi continues his job, though now many more mannequin heads are talking.

Monsters invade his room as Natsuki pleads with him not to go. He ends up alone in a dark hallway as his heart monitor flatlines, leaving Natsuki to wonder if he has crossed over.

When Akito questions the fate of the missing peer, Kouki reveals he has just completed the 99th story and invites the group to confront the vanished boy directly. He concludes by mentioning a voice that said, "See you after the next hundred." A mysterious figure blows out the 99th candle, inducing panic. The kamishibaiya then appears, stating this is the story of everyone who had a dreadful experience after a hundred stories were told, before the 100th candle is extinguished.
