College student Keita Haga discovers a manuscript titled "After the Festival" on a train and reads it until missing his stop. Finding a flyer for an amateur literature contest with a 3,000,000 yen grand prize, he accepts a call confirming his manuscript won. When asked to verify authorship, Haga lies and claims he wrote it. At the awards ceremony, he observes the audience's blank expressions, comparing the atmosphere to a funeral. Upon stepping onto the stage, the attendees and host transform into bare, deformed skeletons clapping. A swirling vortex opens behind him. Horrified, Haga confesses he did not write the novel, but the host reminds him he already confirmed his authorship. Skeletal hands drag him into the vortex as he shouts "I'm sorry!" and the curtain falls.
