He opens the nesting layers, revealing painted emotions until he finds an unpainted layer with a ghastly face drawn in red pen. As he opens this final layer, disturbing noises of laughing, crying, and screaming erupt. The father bursts in to find the mother and son standing silently with their backs to the door, the doll restored to normal on the table.

Strange scraping noises lead him through his apartment to an empty bathroom, where he notices his bedroom window is wide open. As he surveys the room, a pale creature with long, gangly, and contorted limbs drops from the ceiling and crawls toward him.

Months later, another baby boy is born with a face resembling the ghost, and they name him Nao-chan.

His writing becomes increasingly incoherent and violent, reflecting his deteriorating mental state. The room descends into chaos as he suffers from hallucinations. He is eventually found dead at his desk with an exploded head, an insect emerging from his mouth. His final diary entry is a messy scrawl reading "Help me..."

Back at the shop, her grandmother alerts her to a visitor. Kaoru turns to see a person in traditional clothing with hollow eyes and a shattered face standing at the door.
13EP 13Couple discovers mysterious drums and unsettling noises in their new rural home
Sep 29, 2014A newlywed couple moves to a rural town where they encounter rows of pellet drums planted in the ground. The town elder explains this tradition is meant to bring good luck and introduces them to a local protector god. That night, the wife is awakened by the sound of drums playing themselves and distant baby cries. Despite her attempts to wake her sleeping husband, the noises intensify and approach their house. Suddenly, the sounds cease, and the husband awakens with pale skin, emitting a distorted, echoing infant wail. As the cry becomes more childlike, lights in the town flicker on and off in the distance, leaving the couple in a state of terror.
