Schoolteacher Asako relocates from Tokyo to a rural area, where students eagerly consume a strange purple substance called Ominie-san that emits black fumes. Disgusted, she attempts to dispose of a sample in a basement furnace, only for it to move. Later, she witnesses adults eating the same dish at a restaurant, causing her nausea. Feigning illness, she returns home where her aunt serves her a meal secretly mixed with Ominie-san to maintain strength. Despite initial shock at the deception, Asako’s resistance crumbles as she begins salivating at the sight of the food. The episode concludes with her devouring the dish, accompanied by the same unsettling crunching sounds heard earlier, marking her full acceptance of the bizarre local custom.
