Expectant mother Fujiko worries about Yawara, while Kuniko fabricates a marriage story to Matsuda and the Kaga Health business to depress Yawara. Kojiro’s attempt to send a message through Kuniko fails when she discards it. Meanwhile, Jigoro and Matsuda independently devise the same strategy: convincing Fujiko to return to judo for the Barcelona Olympics after childbirth to motivate Yawara. Matsuda proposes this to Fujiko and Hanazono just before the birth of their daughter, Fukuko, who resembles Hanazono but has Fujiko’s distinct eyebrows. Both parents agree to the plan. Jigoro is later surprised to discover that Matsuda had already approached Fujiko with the identical proposal before he did.
