Yawara learns Kojiro coaches Syaka and skips the All Japan tournament representing Tsurukame. Matsuda finds her at a park and notes her past victories against her father, including a throw at age 5. She takes him to an amusement park and warns him she will lose interest if she quits judo. Syaka wins the All Japan by default and believes Yawara feared her, leading to a public challenge. Kojiro and Jigoro meet at a food stand, where Kojiro ignores Jigoro’s greeting. Jigoro eventually discovers why Yawara was absent and confronts her, prompting her to ask him not to tell Tamao.
