Jigoro opposes Yawara attending Mitsuba Women's College, resisting Tamao's bribes. Hanazono and Sudoh attempt to sway him via food and a judo bet, but fail. Sayaka, upset by Yawara's choice over Saikai, challenges her to the All-Japan Tournament. After a conversation with Tamao, Jigoro agrees to fund Yawara's education if she wins the prestigious open-weight tournament and avoids dating men. Yawara accepts, acknowledging she must still follow her grandfather's rules. Meanwhile, Matsuda notes that Saikai's veteran captain, Kousaka Megumi, seeks revenge against Yawara for rejecting the scholarship.
