Jigoro applies hemorrhoid balm to Yawara’s hand to sabotage her entrance exam, causing severe pain. Matsuda abandons his assignment covering Mike Bison to check on her, initially facing her hostility until he confesses personal interest. Yawara allows him to bandage her hand using a technique borrowed from a tennis player. She questions her mother about past attractions, leading Jigoro to mistakenly believe she failed Mitsuba College. He takes her to Saikai College to meet Coach Yuutenji, but Yawara firmly rejects attending. Later, she returns Matsuda’s handkerchief to the newspaper office, where Yuniko lies about his whereabouts. Yawara leaves believing Kuniko is kind. Meanwhile, Shinnosuke wakes up with a new partner, pleased that he can date both Sayaka and Yawara in college.
