Ep. 9: Protagonist joins Secret Society Lucky Cat Chinese Restaurant and rises through ranks
A freshman joins the Secret Society Chinese Restaurant, unaware it orchestrates dubious campus activities like the Cheery Cycle Cleanup Corps and Library Police. Led by Aijima, the group assigns missions where Ozu succeeds while the protagonist fails. Ozu eventually ousts Aijima, allowing the protagonist to rise in rank and steal a plane made by Akashi in episode 3. Akashi scolds him, causing confusion until Master Higuchi explains his dissatisfaction stems from chasing an ideal life that does not exist. Depressed, the protagonist learns Ozu has a girlfriend, the raven-haired maiden from his softball club days. Ozu steals a dirigible from the Honkawa group but fails to rescue her. Shocked by Ozu’s apparent enjoyment of college, the protagonist decides to stay in his 4½ tatami room, with time no longer rewinding.
