Ep. 9: Onoda and Imaizumi battle for the King of the Mountain title with 500 meters left

With 500 meters remaining to the peak, Onoda and Imaizumi are the sole contenders for the King of the Mountain title. Onoda increases his RPM by 30 to close the gap on Imaizumi, but questions remain regarding his ability to sustain this pace through the stage 2 finish. Upon completing the mountain stage, Onoda suffers from severe exhaustion. Although senior teammates attempt to assist him, he is compelled to withdraw from the race. The coach then presents Onoda with a surprising award for his dedication, an gesture that astonishes the other first-year students and ultimately convinces Onoda to continue his tenure with the Sohoku cycling team.
