The Battle City finals commence as Yami Marik initiates a shadow game, threatening to destroy the souls of the Pharaoh and Yugi if they lose. Yugi urges the Pharaoh to focus on the duel to rescue Mai, Bakura, and the good Marik. Yami Marik sacrifices his Winged Dragon of Ra to the graveyard with plans to revive it. In response, Yugi successfully summons Slifer the Sky Dragon by utilizing his three Knights to challenge the opponent's strategy.
