Yugi defends against Marik's assaults, gathering necessary cards to summon Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. He activates Ragnarok, a spell that destroys all monsters on Marik's field, including The Winged Dragon of Ra fused with him. This effect removes all cards Marik controls but banishes all monsters Yami Yugi owns to the graveyard. Yami Marik argues that destroying Ra leaves the good Marik with only 1 life point, making him vulnerable to the Shadow Realm and causing him to lose his soul. Odion arrives, weakened, to free his master. Yami Marik dismisses this, claiming the good Marik is nearly gone and he intends to remain.
