Meanwhile, Merlin visits former party member Lowen in the Empire, learning the Magocracy is ruled by the Demon Lord’s son. She gives Lowen half the Grimoire Lloyd touched to test its sealing power. Lowen detects Sybil’s magic traces, suggesting Lloyd has Chosen One potential. Merlin regrets failing to prepare Lloyd for real life. The group encounters a demonic mist that nullifies magic and leads them into Grist’s trap. Therion, Claire’s childhood friend, saves them while Merlin’s friend fights Michelle, who flees. Grist attacks Therion with a massive explosion and kidnaps Claire during the chaos.
