Grist flees in his airship, prompting Therion to pursue hastily despite being reprimanded for his arrogance and lack of strategy. Michelle objects to risking her vessel, which is powered by a fragment of the previous demon lord. Lloyd and the group arrive using a reverse-gravity spell he devised. During the confrontation, Therion shatters Grist’s left arm, exposing a weakness in his magic barrier that Lloyd identified. Lloyd had created a passive spell using super-chilled air to freeze the limb, bypassing Grist’s sensory detection. Desperate, Grist releases Michelle’s captured monsters. Therion rescues Claire, whose voice calms the beasts but destabilizes the demon lord fragment. This causes the fragment to absorb Grist and the monsters, forming a demonic chimera. Michelle is killed by the creature. Meanwhile, Merlin and Lowen meet Will to report the battle. With the airship’s power source destroyed, the vessel begins to fall, and the chimera blocks the exit, trapping everyone.
