Cross recruits Lynn, an E-Rank archer, only to find him incompetent during slime extermination. Meanwhile, Yui intervenes when a Windy noble threatens a boy, leading to a confrontation with Lilith, a powerful woman who offers to train Yui. Cross instructs Lynn on proper archery while Lilith teaches Yui mana blade techniques. Lloyd questions Claire about ancient magic, which she reveals is taboo and lethal to those without innate talent. During a monster attack, Cross devises a faster firing method to defeat the beast, boosting Lynn’s confidence. Yui successfully uses her new spell to save Lilith. The group continues their journey to Sylphess, having all grown stronger. Lilith, whose real name is Lily, returns to Merlin, who feels jealous that Lily saw Lloyd while she did not.
