Van learns that soldiers are hunting for Republican gold and explosives lost during the war. He meets the Republican Commander for lunch, who confirms the search efforts. After dining, Van departs with Fiona and a clever boy, suspecting he is being trailed. He confronts the follower, who reveals himself as military police and admits to planning to sell the gold in the Empire. The officer introduces his partner, the Gun Sniper. Van then shadows Commander Cunningham, observing Command Wolves positioned to neutralize the Blade Liger if necessary. Unbeknownst to Van, the military officer is secretly collaborating with Commander Cunningham.
